A bit about us.

Anne and I are originally from the county of Hampshire in the south of England. We have been married over 35 years, and have two grown children Paul and Cheryl who are still in my home town of Gosport. Anne and I met whilst members of the Gosport and Fareham Youth Orchestra, where Anne played percussion and I played trumpet. We have lived in Southampton, Winchester, and Fareham, whilce we were working, and decided on my career retirement to move to Scotland, where we lived in Dumfries from 2003 to June 2007.

We had made a decision to move to France in the February of that year, and during a trip to France in May 2007, we found our dream house.

Fortunately we had sold our house in Dumfries and had to make arrangements for a hurried departure. This wasn't so bad as we left our caravan in France where we could wait for our purchase to complete, which was in August 2007

Our House

Our house in the Creuse is a granite cottage, with shutters at the windows, in a beautiful wooded valley. Our neigbours are few, and our lane is an impass, except for an unmetalled lane down to the river Thaurion. The hamlet is in the commune of Royère de Vassivière, in the south west of the departement, close to the Lac de Vassivière, that spans the border with the departement of Haute Vienne.
